Cranberry Fact Sheet

Washington State cranberry fact sheet. With over one hundred growers, over fifteen hundred acres in production, producing fifteen million pounds in 2025, with about half of those pounds producing the fresh fruit market.

Washington is an incredibly special growing area because half of production goes to fresh market which are the cranberries you buy in the bag at the grocery store. The processed market is a 2-for-1 product where juice is extracted, and dried cranberries are produced, and there’s a facility in Markham where this is done. Most, but not all, fresh market fruit is dry harvested using hand rakes or Furford pickers while processed market fruit is typically wet harvested, which is less labor intensive.
